The main purpose of this research is to analyze the mediating role of homesickness in the relationship between internet addiction and emotional security of the students of the Islamic Azad University of Hamedan. This research makes use of a descriptive correlational method; Statistical population consists of all the students of Islamic Azad University of Hamedan and there were 200 samples chosen by Purposive sampling. Data was gathered mainly through Young Internet Addiction questionnaire, Fann Fillet's homesickness questionnaire and Maslow's psychological security questionnaire. Inferential statistic tests such as Pearson correlation coefficient test, multivariate regression test and t-test were used to gather data. According to the results, there is a negative significant relationship between students' psychological security and addiction to the Internet, and students' psychological security can be predicted according to Internet addiction. There is no significant relationship between homesickness and psychological security and internet addiction. Also, no significant difference exists between the level of Internet addiction, homesickness and psychological security in male and female students. Internet addiction is higher among single students than married students. No significant difference exists between homesickness in single students and married students. Psychological security is higher among married students than single students. Finally there is no significant difference between internet addiction, psychological security and homesickness in native and non-native students.
